Frequently Asked Questions

The initial appointment will be approximately 3 hours to ensure all intricate details are taken care of. This time includes consultation, brow mapping, colour selection, along with mixing, numbing, and tattooing. We recommend eating several hours before your appointment and ensuring you’re well hydrated.
Tip: Don’t drink coffee or alcohol 24 hours before your appointment for the best results.

These types of tattooing procedures are virtually painless, however pain tolerance varies from person to person. Topical numbing cream and numbing gel is applied throughout the procedure. We ensure you are comfortable every step of the way. Some of our clients take a nap and wake up to bomb new brows or lips!
-
Skin is tricky and every person is different, however, your new brows will typically heal in about 7 to 10 days with proper care. Light scabbing is to be expected, but isn’t terrible!
Lip blush takes approximately 3-4 days to heal and you will experience some dryness, and your lips may change texture until they naturally exfoliate themselves. The colour and pigment of your brows/lips will brighten up and become more saturated up to 14 days after your initial appointment, when fully healed. Regardless of the procedure, you can still go out and live your everyday life with no issues!
-
The longevity of your tattoo varies on every individual. It can depend on your skin type and daily lifestyle! However, the powder ombré procedure typically lasts 2-3 years. It slowly fades into a nice brown tint. The lip procedure typically last 1-2 years.

For ombré powder brows, we colour match the pigment based on your skin type, undertone, and natural hair color. These are just some of the things we take into consideration when picking your pigment color to ensure perfectly healed results.
For tattoo lip blush, feel free to bring in photos of lip colors you like, or even your favourite shade of lipstick or gloss! Every colour mix is different and is blended to suit your preferences. We use Colour Science during this process, and lots of different pigments are mixed to achieve the perfect colour for you.

Knowledge of Colour Theory is very important in the permanent makeup industry. We have been tracking the pigment line that we use for some time now, and we have not had any clients complain of discolouration here at BIJOU. All of our clients’ brows and lips have healed beautifully — take a look at our Services page for plenty of healed results and happy clients!

Previous work or work done by other artists requires something we call a Colour Correction or Cover Up. When booking your appointment, please send in clear, current photos in natural daylight of your brows so we can evaluate and proceed with the best solution for you. Unfortunately, not all clients will be eligible for Colour Correction or Cover Up for a variety of reasons, at the discretion of the artist.

We can go approximately 2mm over your natural lip line to create a poutier shape. This will give you the illusion of bigger lips! Anything beyond 2mm will look unnatural and is not recommended. If you want even fuller lips, we recommend using lip filler, and then coming back 4 to 6 weeks later for a tattoo lip blush appointment.
-
Yes! Lip blush and lip filler go hand in hand and look amazing together! Please note that your appointments must be 4 weeks apart from each other.
-
Yes! Please ensure your botox is done before/after 6-8 weeks of your brow appointment.
-
We recommend waiting at least 5 days after your procedure to start working out again to ensure your brows heal. This reduces your risk of infection, and ensures that your sweat does not interfere with the healing process.
